After a divorce is final, circumstances often change and the order entered before may no longer be appropriate. If there is a significant change in income, child support modification or maintenance relating to the child support decree may be modified. Child support may also be modified because of a change in the parenting responsibilities or parenting time. The parenting schedule may need to be revised because of a change in a parents work schedule or a move to a new home, or the circumstances of the parties has changed and the children are being cared for more by the other parent than before. The Court retains jurisdiction to modify or change the prior orders when it involves the children.
